The Story

Formed in 2021 by Simon Waller, Neovenator released their first EP in 2022. It was produced by JC Carroll of The Members and featured on Flicknife’s ‘Flipside Freaks: Purple’ compilation. This garnered some great reviews not least of which was from Vive Le Rock magazine who raved about this new ‘psychedelia-tinged garage rock n roll’.

Neovenator gig constantly, and have supported luminaries such as Spizzenergi, The Fallen Leaves and The Vapors – they also frequently play festivals including Glastonbury Psych Fest and Steampunk events such as Cobbles & Cogs, Surrey Steampunk Convivial and Eastbourne Steampunk Festival, playing alongside Professor Elemental, Victor & The Bully and Madam Misfit.

Neovenator’s debut album, on Flicknife Records, ‘Songs From The End Of The Pier’, continues in the great tradition of off-kilter but entertaining English psychedelic-pop, with a touch of post-punk and a little bit of rock n roll thrown in for good measure.

Flicknife Records is a legendary UK independent record label founded in 1980 by Marco "Frenchy" Gloder, known for specializing in punk, space rock, and underground artists. By 1985, it was a top 10 indie label, launching bands like Dogs D'Amour, Ozric Tentacles, and Alien Sex Fiend, with a legacy spanning 40+ years.

Notable release include Hawkind and it's various members solo projects, The Barracudas, The Saints, Erazerhead, Inner City Unit, Nico, SOHO, Adamski and many others.

Flicknife still holds fast to attitudes and beliefs that spurred Frenchy to start it. In recent years, they have weathered the radical change that has swept through the music industry and laid to waste a host of other labels, both large and small. Rising to this challenge, Flicknife have also found a way to help more bands get their music heard by using the influence and undoubted reputation the label has built up.

They keep on releasing fascinating music from either legendary bands or new artists - so come in and be fascinated.
